Content types

The Content types page lets you edit existing content types (including the built-in content types) and add new content types.

To access the Content types page:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .
  2. On the Manage page, click Content types.

The Content types page contains two tabs:

  • Types: lets you manage content types and their members.
  • General members: lets you manage general content metadata.

Create a content type

To create a new content type:

  1. On the Types tab, click Add type.
  2. On the New M.ContentType dialog box, set the following parameters:

    IconIconRepresents the content type. The icon is also used when no content thumbnail is available.IconsMandatory

  3. Click Save.

Warning

Setting a different validation condition than Final can have unwanted side effects and possibly block certain items to move forward in the flow. For example, the condition on required fields is checked before editing which makes the validation fail and break the flow.

Add a member

The content members define the sections and layout of the content document, whereas the details members represent the content metadata.

Content member

To add a new content member to a content type:

  1. On the left of the Types tab, select the content type you want to configure in the list.
  2. On the right of the Type tab, in the Content section, click Add member.
  3. On the Add member dialog box, set the following parameters:

  4. Click Save.

Note

A Styling preview under the Style parameter shows how the member appears on the content detail page. This styling is only a cosmetic layer for the detail page, it is not stored as data of the content.

Detail member

To add a new detail member to a content type:

  1. On the left of the Types tab, click the content type you want to configure in the list.
  2. On the right of the Type tab, on the Details section, click Add member.
  3. On the Add member dialog box, click the type of member you want to create.

  4. On the Details tab of the Add member dialog box, set the following parameters:

  5. Click Save.

Note

The detail members appear on the Details tab of the content details pages.

General members

General members define the metadata sections of content detail pages for all content types. Following the previous Add a member procedure, you can add custom members in two sections: General or Strategy.

Using the icon, at the beginning of the member, lets you order the members.

Note

Members added to the General section appear on the Details tab of the content detail pages, whereas members added to the Strategy section appear on the Strategy tab.

Content types operations

For each content type, click Actions next to its name, to perform the following operations:

  • Edit : opens the edit mode for the content type. You can modify all parameters set during creation.
  • Copy : Duplicates the content type.
  • Delete : Deletes the content type.

Member operations

You can perform the following operations on members:

  • Edit : opens the edit mode for the member. You can modify all parameters set during creation.
  • Delete : deletes the member.
  • Move : moves the member. You can drag the member to the place you want in the list of members.
