User group combinations

When defining user group combinations, keep the following in mind:

  • Dedicated global user group policies determine the access rights to portal pages, global definitions, global settings, and so on.

  • Global user group policies do not access the market's access rights, or other taxonomies or specific conditional permissions.

  • Dedicated local user group policies hold access to the market or other specific conditional policies.

  • Local user group policies are combined on the user group membership level using the Apply all combination. This design applies ALL present rules in the user group policy combinations.

  • Local user group policies are combined on the user group membership level using the Apply all combination, which applies ALL rules that are present in the user group policy combinations.

  • Different user roles across the various markets, divisions, or departments should be taken out from the global user group policies and redesigned through the local user groups with Apply all combinations.

  • Different user roles across the different markets, divisions, or departments should be taken out from the global user group policies and redesigned via the local user groups with Apply all combinations.

  • The number of user groups that need to be managed is reduced when used in combinations with Apply all.
