Master layouts

Use Master layouts to set a standard page layout that can be used by a specific set of pages. A master layout is useful when you want to use the same layout for all pages with a common characteristic (for example, products).

The following example illustrates how to add a sidebar to the right by selecting Sidebar with the placement and dimension option of Right wide. In this example, we also add a new row to the MAIN SECTION.

Note

You must be a superuser to use master layouts.

To use master layouts:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .

  2. On the Manage page, click Master layouts.

  3. On the Master layouts page, click + Master Layout.

  4. In the Master layout dialog box, in the Name field, enter a name for the master layout, provide a description if required, and click Create.

    The master layout detail page opens.

Edit master layout settings

To add navigation, headers, footers, or sidebars, you edit the master layout settings.

To edit the master Layout settings:

  1. On the master layout detail page, in the upper-right corner of the application window, click Layout settings.

  2. In the Layout settings dialog box, click the switches to turn on/off:

    • Navigation bar: shows the navigation bar on or from the new master layout, respectively. This setting is turned on by default.
    • Header: shows or removes the header section on or from the new master layout, respectively. This setting is turned on by default.
    • Sidebar: shows or removes a sidebar from the master layout. This setting is turned off by default.
    • Footer: shows or removes a footer on or from the new master layout. This setting is turned off by default.
  3. If you enabled the sidebar, from the drop-down list, select a placement option:

  4. Click Save.

  5. Click Publish to enable the new master layout.

Add a row or zone

To add a row or zone:

  1. On the master layout detail page, click Add and then select Row or Zone.

  2. If you selected Zone, in the Name field, enter a name, and click Save.

  3. Click Publish to enable the new master layout.

Assign a master layout to a page

Each page you create can have a master layout with its own layouts. When you create a new page, you specify the page layout you want to use in the Page dialog box. To change the master layout, you clear the current assignment and select the new master layout.

To assign a master layout to a page:

  1. On the menu bar, click Manage .

  2. On the Manage page, click Pages.

  3. In the sitemap, search for and select the page you want to assign a layout to.

  4. With the page selected, click the Info tab.

  5. Click Edit.

  6. To assign the master layout, click Add .

  7. In the Master layout dialog box, clear the check box next to the currently selected master layout and select the master layout you want to use and then click OK.

Export master layouts

You can export and import master layouts using the Export/Import functionality.
