State flows

A state is a step in the life cycle of an object where the object flows from one state to the next. This transition is triggered by an event or operation. Sitecore Content Hub™ supports state flows for all types of content.

Note

You must be a superuser to work with state flows and you can only apply state flows to block type jobs.

You can define a finite number of states, transitions, and actions. Each state flow stores the status of a job at any given time. A state flow is considered complex when it has at least one state that is connected to two different states. Otherwise, it is a linear state flow.

You can add state flow visualization to detail pages where there are associated state flows. For more information, see StateMachine viewer component.

Note

All updates that are made to out-of-the-box state flows do not impact the upgrade process when moving to a later version of Content Hub.
